Not Your Typical Blog: Hey, Slytherins on Pottermore...

What’s with this House unity stuff I’ve been seeing? Why are we so chipper and cheerleading-y? Is this some Post-Hogwarts-War crap?

We’re Slytherins, dammit! We’re better than them! We had Merlin in our House, all right? Merlin.

Quite frankly, I’m ready to verbally tear down some…

I think you guys are missing the point. Being a slytherin is far from being an asshole or, rather, thinking it’s cool to be an asshole. Yeah, we had people like that in slytherin, but most of them turned out to be as misguided as you seem to be.

It is years after the war. And I’m not sure where you’re getting this competition thing from, as almost all the slytherins are very competative, but we’re not going to hate the other houses! At least not personally.

The power is in our hands. We’re officially slytherins now, so by not being assholes, we can make the image whatever we’d like.

No. Snape was definitely a slytherin through and through. Slytherins can be brave.
Gilderoy? I’d say he was pretty smart and he had a lot of dedication to his studies.
Tonks was so loyal to Remus she ultimately chose going after him rather than staying with her newborn son.
The only thing I agree with is Peter. Still don’t know how he was a gryff.

I firmly believe that the reason many Slytherins were easily convinced to join Voldemort was because they were treated like shit by the rest of the houses while they were growing up. Imagine spending seven of the most important years of your life being told that you were part of the bad house and therefore bad yourself. Everyone boos your quidditch team. All the houses will hang out with everyone except you. You grow up being hated by your fellow students and many of your teachers.
Now imagine someone comes along and tells you that you’re not worthless and bad. That you’re invited to join a family where you will right the wrongs committed against you. You have the opportunity to be wanted and powerful instead of a hated outcast. Several of your former classmates are telling you how great it is. How you’re welcomed and needed. These are the kids you grew up with. The classmates who went through all the same things you did. Being a Death Eater sounds pretty good now.

OMG. THIS.

This actually makes a lot of sense.

True dat :<

Bless this post.

wait a minute did you even ever read harry potter?
how many of their parents were already DE’s?
lol every single slytherin in all the books seemed super hyper and prideful of their house i mean really now

I agree with the picture, but not with the post. There are several Slytherins who weren’t, and actually looked down on, Death Eaters. AND Merlin was a Slytherin (thanks Pottermore)!

Being proud to be in Slytherin and wanting to be a Deatheater are two different things. There were mudblood and halfblood slytherins. I doubt they all hated their muggle parent(s) as Snape and Voldemort did.
And then there is people like Andromeda who married a muggle. So yeah.

i don’t believe in hybrid-houses but all slytherpuff things relate to me. aren’t i allowed to just be a fucking adorable slytherin?

ugh, exactly. you would just be a cute slytherin.
i hate hybrid houses so much as the people who honestly think they’re in one obviously don’t get the point of houses.

“It irritates me to no end when people bash the Slytherin house, and the only reason behind their hate is, “It’s because they’re all evil.”“
Among other stupid reasons like,”All the dark witches and wizards were from that house”“Voldemort/Snape/Some other evil wizard was in that house”“They’re all bullies/idiots/arrogant pricks”“JK herself stated that the house was evil”
Personal confession. I’m tired of meeting people like this, especially when they start talking bullshit or bringing up facts that aren’t even true. -Gena

Ravenclaw and Slytherin. It’s kind of a love/hate thing.
Claws for the House Cup!

unpopular opinion but for me, I always though Hufflepuff was technically the best house(i am not in hufflepuff for the record) as far as their values go. However, Tonks single handedly proved me wrong.

She didn’t come back to fight. Sure, she would/did fight, but that wasn’t the reason she came back. She came back to see if Remus was okay.

She is the example where loyalty can be a bad thing. She reminds me so much of those highschool girls that sit and cry over boys all day. I mean, I know we don’t know the full story but really? She was that depressed when he didn’t want to date her? I mean c’mon.

I’m not even one of those hardcore remus/sirius shippers but I feel like the only reason he married her is because she was suicidal without him or something.

I agree with the rest though. I didn’t really like Lavender but i do not hate her.
